This Week at PVUMC 4/8/24

I was with you all in Spirit on Sunday morning watching online. Anne, Brenda, and Lois did such a splendid job of leading worship in my absence. I am so thankful for Anne’s leadership and her responding to her call to pastoral ministry. Keep her in your prayers as we get closer to her commissioning this June!

Fundraisers Are Coming!
As you may or may not know, at our current giving levels we are currently running at a budget deficit and are projected to have a $20,000-$30,000 shortfall by the end of the year. With that said, it is time to start thinking about fundraising. See below!

This Week at PVUMC 4/3/24

Y’all, I’m still beaming about my first Holy Week with you all. Walking the story of Jesus’ last week never gets old and there is always something new the Spirit reveals. I am on vacation this week but Diane is still holding this down in the office and Anne Culver will be leading our worship on Sunday. I look forward to watching her sermon online!

For my Easter Sunday message, I preached on pressing in and holding our beliefs with an open hand so that God might reveal the truth to you. You can read it here.

This Week at PVUMC 3/25/24

What a wonderful and festive Palm Sunday we had yesterday. This week is Holy Week and I hope to see all of you at our daily worship services starting on Thursday evening. Some of the things we do will likely be familiar while other services will be new, I pray that each of you come and see with open hearts and open minds. I pray that the crucified and resurrected Christ will reveal himself to you in a profound way this Holy Week!

Yesterday, on Palm Sunday, I preached on where to find Christ in the midst of collapse. You can read it here.

Maundy Thursday: 6pm
We will remember the Lord’s Supper in the Upper Room, share communion, and grieve Christ’s arrest in the garden. Gathers in the sanctuary.

Good Friday: Noon
A service of meditation and prayer. We will remember Christ’s death at Calvary and confess our sins against God and our neighbor. Meets in the sanctuary.

Good Friday Stations of the Cross: 6pm
A very special ecumenical service with our Baptist neighbors across the street. We will meet in their sanctuary and retell the story of Christ’s crucifixion. The service will travel from station to station ending in the PVUMC cemetery. Meet in the Pleasant View First Baptist Church sanctuary.

Saturday: Easter Egg Hunt at 4:30pm
Our Easter Egg Hunt will be March 30th at 4:30pm (note the time change). Open to all elementary and preschool aged children! Consider bringing a picnic supper and joining us for the 6pm Easter Vigil service.

Holy Saturday Easter Vigil: 6pm
Though Christ died and went to the place of the dead, our hope, the light of Christ, never went out. We will gather to retell the stories of God’s saving acts leading up to Jesus Christ and hold vigil (spiritually, not literally) until Easter morning. The service will meet at the church steps.

Easter Sunrise Service: 7am
Come celebrate the Resurrection in the ancient way on Sunday morning at 7am. We will gather for hymns, prayers, a short sermon, and communion. We will have coffee and a light breakfast as well. Meets at the Pavilion.

We will have our principle Easter Sunday worship service at the normal time (10am).
