This Week at PVUMC 7/9/24

Pastor Steve’s Sermon: Yesterday, I preached on the value of our weakness. In many ways it is a topic I touch on quite often. But I believe you can’t encourage enough! Read it here.

55 & Alive: This Thursday, 55 & Alive will be gathering for lunch at Riverview Restaurant in Ashland City. Meet at the church at 10:30 for the bus or meet us there at 11am. I, for one, cannot wait to the eat the best catfish in Middle Tennessee!

Karen Snyder’s Birthday Party (moved to the church): Karen Snyder is turning 80 and her sister Bonnie wants everyone to celebrate it! All are welcome. Due to the extreme heat, we will be gathering in the Fellowship Hall this Saturday 3-6pm. Come enjoy some delicious food, music, and great company.

Trevor and Ally Wedding Shower: Join us for lunch after church on July 21st to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of Trevor and Ally. Their registry can be found here.

Back to School Bash: Bring your friends and let’s party! On Sunday, August 4th, we will have a service focused on blessing teachers and students. Then, afterwards we will party on the lawn with burgers and hot dogs, music, and an inflatable waterslide! Bring your backpacks to be blessed!

Methodism 101: In September, Pastor Steve and Pastor Anne will be leading a five-week course on learning the basics of Methodism. It is for anyone ages 12 and up. We will explore our theology, church history, and the peculiarities of our tradition. This is a great course for prospective members, young people interested in confirmation, and seasoned veterans wanting a deeper understanding of their methodist identity. We will gather in the sanctuary (September 8 – October 5: 5:30-7:00pm).

Journey to New Beginnings: Our Journey Series continues with a powerful group on grief. The group will meet August 21 – October 9 from 6:00-7:30pm. We will explore the stages of grief and the cumulative effects of loss. This group is for anyone who has experienced any kind of loss at any time in their life. I have come to learn that a significant part of the spiritual journey is learning to grieve well and I hope you all consider this incredible opportunity.

This Week at PVUMC 07/01/24

Yesterday was a wonderful day, returning from vacation to celebrate Pastor Anne’s commissioning. After a spring season full of fundraisers, VBS, and parties, the month of July is an excellent opportunity for us to recharge, rest, and dream new dreams. Our various leadership teams will be gathering over the next couple of weeks to set the fall calendar and articulate a vision for the next year of the church.

Here are a couple of things to look forward to:
-Journey to New Beginnings: Grief based small groups
-Methodism 101: Great class for prospective members and old members alike
-Missions, including FUEL, Meal Boxes and our annual backpack drive!
-Renovations to the Fellowship Hall.

Summer Children’s Ministry Volunteers
Summer is hard trying to track everyone down, but if you are in town and able to serve in our nursery this summer, please sign up!
On that note, our children’s team has decided to not hold Children’s Church this summer, families with preschool aged children are welcome to use the nursery if your kiddo can’t handle sitting in the sanctuary for the whole hour.

Tomorrow’s Service is Moving Inside (6/30/24)

6/30/24: Due to the extreme heat and potential for thunderstorms we are moving tomorrow’s pavilion worship service and potluck lunch celebrating Pastor Anne’s Commissioning back inside the church. The service will begin at 10am with a special liturgy celebrating Pastor Anne’s accomplishment in her ordination journey. Following the service at 11am we will have a potluck lunch in the Fellowship Hall. There will be no Sunday School tomorrow. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Jessica Harrison.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, we had a wonderful time in Canada!
